Talbot is remarkably svelte and engaging in 2021. Under the guidance of Jean-Michel Laporte, in recent vintages Talbot was already moving towards a more sophisticated expression, but this is a quantum leap forward. This is a wine of extreme delicacy and finesse: Cabernet-driven but simultaneously limpid and ethereal. It has great purity, flowing gracefully to a subtle crescendo of gravel and graphite notes. Probably earlier to mature, this feels like more than the sum of its parts. And it will simply be delicious to drink.
